Wipeband – A Simple Idea Designed to Make Life Easier for Kids

🧼 What is Wipeband?

Wipeband is a wrist-worn tissue holder designed to help young children wipe their noses easily, independently, and hygienically. Instead of reaching for a tissue box (or using their sleeves!), kids can simply lift their wrist and wipe – making the process faster, cleaner, and more intuitive.

The design includes soft, replaceable layers of tissue that sit comfortably on the wrist like a bracelet. Children naturally lift their hands to their face, so Wipeband uses that instinct to make nose wiping easier and more effective.

💡 The Inspiration Behind the Invention : The idea came from noticing how often kids struggle to reach tissues when they need them most. Many sneeze into their sleeves or hands, which spreads germs and creates mess. Tiana wanted a solution that was:

  • Easy for kids aged 2–6
  • Fun and comfortable to wear
  • More hygienic
  • Better at reducing waste
  • Helpful for parents, teachers, and caregivers

This small idea grew into a full invention – and then a patent.

📜 Patent Details : Tiana is the co-inventor and patent holder of Wipeband.

This patent covers the design, structure, and functionality of Wipeband, making it an officially recognized and protected invention.

🌱 Why This Matters for Kids (and the Planet)
Wipeband isn’t just a convenience product – it encourages smart and sustainable behavior

✔️ Uses less tissue
Because each layer is used effectively, kids naturally use fewer sheets compared to grabbing multiple from a box.

✔️ Reduces waste
Less paper used = less paper wasted.  Small actions add up – one child using Wipeband daily can save hundreds of tissues per year.

✔️ Supports self-hygiene skills
Kids can learn independence in staying clean and managing sneezes or runny noses.

✔️ Promotes health
By reducing sleeve-wiping and hand-wiping, Wipeband helps cut down the spread of germs in schools, playgrounds, and homes.

🧪 What Tiana Is Working on Now
Tiana is expanding her invention journey by studying how sustainable habits form in children and how design can encourage better behaviors. Her research includes:

  • Measuring how Wipeband reduces paper usage
  • Understanding how kids use tissue differently when it’s on the wrist
  • Studying sustainability through the lens of everyday objects
  • Writing a research paper on tissue conservation using Wipeband

🚀 Future Goals for Wipeband

  • Launching improved designs
  • Adding washable accessories and eco-friendly components
  • Partnering with schools and pediatric programs
  • Introducing Wipeband into sustainability education for children

👧 Message from Tiana

“Wipeband started as a small idea, but it made me realize how small ideas can help solve big problems. I hope my invention inspires other kids to look at everyday things and imagine how they could be better.”
